The importance of tape and dropcloths

admin • August 3, 2012

You’ll notice that when we start our work, we lay down dropcloths and tape all necessary places. If you ever have a painting project, this is an important first step.

Here’s a good way to start:

The best, we’ve found in protecting carpet, is using 3-in. masking tape. You should lay down the tape approximately 1/2 inch onto the face of the baseboard. Make sure you’ve made it firm!
Next, lay dropcloths on top of the floor and over the tape. Be sure to remove all switch plate covers, followed by applying tape over the outlets and switches. The next thing to remove are all wall-mounted grates. Before you get started, cover doorstops, hinges, while remembering to remove knobs and door strike plates. This extra fifteen minutes is well worth the time.
