How long does an exterior paint job last?

Well, now, that depends on a number of factors:  the type of surface, the type of paint or stain, and the pattern of weather conditions. You might even take into consideration which side of the home gets the most sun, and if the house has received any pressure washing in the past.  All these are to be taken into consideration.

Sometimes there must be the realization that some older homes have been previously painted with oil-based paints and because of this will experience paint failure more quickly, sometimes needing repainting every 3 to 4 years.

A good rule of thumb is to say that an exterior paint job may last, on the average, for about five to seven years before signs of wear start being evident. McLain’s gives you a written guarantee which takes the stress out of early wear.  Please ask us about this.
